Crystal Bowls & Goddess Pose with Victoria Nielsen
When you step into a Bad Girls Yoga class with Victoria Nielsen, you're not just signing up for a workout. You're walking into a dance party! With vibey music, challenging yet relaxing poses, Victoria is an instructor who believes yoga should complement your life, not complicate it. We sat down with Victoria, an Atlanta-based instructor, to talk about her journey with yoga, her teaching philosophy, and why she loves helping others find their flow.
Finding Bad Girls Yoga
How did you become a Bad Girls Yoga instructor?
"Gillian reached out to me about a party in my hometown of Key West, FL," Victoria shares. The connection was instant, and now she brings that same Key West energy to her Atlanta classes; it’s a perfect blend of beach-town ease and city sophistication that makes Victoria’s vibe so unique.
Yoga as a Way of Life
What does yoga mean to you, and how has it shaped your journey?
Victoria's relationship with yoga began early. "I've been an avid yogi since I was 18, taking hot Bikram classes like they were going out of style," she says. Her practice evolved when she discovered kundalini yoga, and both styles have become essential tools in her daily life.
For Victoria, yoga is more than physical exercise. "Yoga has allowed me to stay grounded and present in my body, while also allowing me to move through any anxious thoughts and energy I might be carrying," she explains. "It's my favorite way to connect to my highest self and to feel good in my everyday life." This personal connection to the practice fuels her passion for sharing yoga with others.
What keeps you inspired to teach?
"The fun of it!" Victoria says without hesitation. "It's really cool to see people blossom before your eyes as they get more comfortable with themselves and their own bodies." That transformation as students discover confidence and connection in their own skin is what makes every class worth teaching.
The Bad Girls Yoga Experience
Describe what students can expect in your classes.
"It's a big dance party!" Victoria says. Her classes follow a dynamic structure that builds energy throughout the session. "We always start in a seated position and work our way to standing (and dancing) in warrior pose. I like high energy bursts in class that then lead to dynamic stretching."
But it's not all high-intensity movement. Every class concludes with something special: "You'll always receive a sound bath at the end from my crystal bowls," she adds. This combination of energetic flow and deep relaxation creates the signature Bad Girls Yoga experience: a workout that's as much about joy as it is about strength. Take our Namaste then Rosé™️ class to experience for yourself how we expertly blend fun and wellness together.
What's your go-to pose, and why?
"I love a good goddess pose," Victoria shares. "Not only is it a great thigh workout, but you're also energetically opening the creative center of the body, the sacral chakra. The more you move your hips and open your womb space, the better you'll feel! When you free your hips, you free your mind." The combination of physical challenge and energetic awareness helps to define her teaching approach.
Advice for Yoga Newcomers
What would you tell someone who's nervous about trying yoga?
Victoria has encountered plenty of students who feel intimidated walking into their first class. Her advice is straightforward: "Focus on your own practice. It can be easy to get intimidated if you look around the room, but pick a spot that's comfortable for you." While many beginners gravitate toward the back of the room, Victoria actually recommends the opposite: "I'd actually recommend closer to the front so you can see your own eyes in the mirror. That concentration will keep you from worrying about anybody else."
Any misconceptions about yoga you'd like to address?
"That we all wear white and have a perfect yoga practice every day," Victoria says with a laugh. She's passionate about breaking down the Instagram-worthy image of yoga that can feel exclusionary. "Yoga is meant to complement your life, not complicate it. If you don't enjoy it, maybe you haven't found the right style for you. Not all yoga is the same, and it's important to find what works for you and your body."
This philosophy is at the heart of what makes Bad Girls Yoga stand out; it's about finding your own path, your own rhythm, and your own version of the practice.
What should first-timers bring to class?
Victoria keeps it simple: "Definitely bring water and an open heart." That's really all you need to have an amazing experience!
