Supportive, Fierce and Fun: Steph Pascual's Yoga Philosophy

In this month’s instructor spotlight, we sat down with Miami-based Steph Pascual to learn about her yoga journey, teaching philosophy, and what makes her classes uniquely "Bad Girls." With her energetic presence and playful approach, Steph has become a beloved instructor in our signature Namaste then Rosé classes, where we flow through an invigorating practice before unwinding with a complimentary glass of rosé and connection with fellow yogis.

Steph’s yoga journey

How did you come across the opportunity to teach with Bad Girls Yoga?

Steph's Bad Girls Yoga journey started through community connections: a fellow yoga teacher and friend introduced her to founder Gillian Gossow, and the rest is history.

What does yoga mean to you? How has it impacted your life?

For Steph, yoga has been nothing short of transformative. "Yoga has truly changed my life for the better," she shares. "It's given me a deeper mind-body connection, a sense of balance, and a way to move that feels both powerful and healing."

But the physical benefits are just the beginning. What truly resonates with Steph is the community aspect of yoga practice. "The connections I've built through yoga are just as transformative as the practice itself," she explains, noting how the relationships formed with "like-minded people who share the same passion for movement and growth" have made an undeniable impact.

What inspires you to continue teaching yoga to others?

Steph’s enthusiasm is infectious as her eyes light up. "Seeing how yoga transforms people—physically, mentally, and emotionally—inspires me every day," she says.

She finds particular fulfillment in "creating a space where others can move, breathe, and grow," and the joy of witnessing students' progress and breakthroughs is the driving force behind her teaching.

Personal faves

What's your favorite yoga pose, and what do you love about it?

"Ardha Chandra Chapasana, or Bound Half Moon, is my favorite pose.” She appreciates this challenging posture for its "perfect blend of strength, balance, and openness."

The pose holds deeper meaning for her too: she sees it as a metaphor for life's journey. "It challenges me to stay grounded while reaching for more, just like in life—finding stability while embracing growth."

Is there a common misconception about yoga you'd like to clear up?

Steph is passionate about making yoga accessible to everyone. "One common misconception is that you have to be flexible to do yoga," she notes. In reality, she emphasizes that "yoga is for everyone, and flexibility is something you build over time. It's not a prerequisite!"

What sets Bad Girls Yoga apart

Tell us about your class style.

Steph's teaching philosophy centers on making yoga enjoyable. "My classes are light, fun, and playful while still offering a strong, intentional flow," she explains.

Creating the right atmosphere is crucial to her approach. She strives for "an uplifting environment where students feel both challenged and supported." Steph believes firmly that movement should feel good, which is why she encourages laughter, exploration, and not taking things too seriously during practice.

Each class concludes with deep stretches and relaxation, carefully designed to leave participants feeling refreshed, energized, and balanced as they roll up their mats.

What makes you proud to be a Bad Girls Yoga instructor?

"The community is supportive, fierce, and fun, and it reminds me every day that yoga is for everyone, no matter how you show up!” Steph is especially proud of the amazing connections and experiences she provides for her students.

For new yogis

What would you say to someone feeling nervous about trying yoga for the first time?

"Just breathe — you don't have to be perfect, you just have to start."

She also emphasizes that the essence of yoga “isn't about being the most flexible or knowing all the poses. It's about showing up for yourself and moving in a way that feels good."

Your top tip for someone preparing for their first class?

When it comes to practical advice, Steph keeps it simple. Her top recommendation for first-timers is to wear comfortable attire that allows free movement, and to bring proper hydration.
