Singing Bowls & Savasana with Jennifer Moulton

We interviewed Jennifer Moulton, one of Bad Girls Yoga's beloved instructors, who is bringing her unique blend of strength, serenity, and sound healing to Austin, Texas. Known for her transformative use of metal singing bowls and her gentle approach to guiding students through their practice, Jennifer has turned her own journey of finding her physical and mental fortitude into a powerful tool for helping others discover their own inner strength. She shared insights about her class style and the kind of healing fun you can expect with Bad Girls Yoga.

Finding Her Path to Bad Girls Yoga

How did you come across the opportunity to teach with Bad Girls Yoga?

"Gillian invited me! Honored to have her find me!" Jennifer shares with enthusiasm. Bad Girls Yoga is a one-of-a-kind community where talented instructors are sought out, discovered, and welcomed into a celebration of yoga in all its forms.

What makes you proud to be a Bad Girls Yoga instructor?

"I feel happy being a part of making someone's special occasion memorable with a unique group experience," Jennifer reflects. Whether it's a bachelorette party, birthday celebration, or corporate team-building event, Bad Girls Yoga creates those Instagram-worthy moments that go far beyond the typical yoga class experience.

The Transformative Power of Yoga

What does yoga mean to you? How has it impacted your life?

For Jennifer, yoga represents far more than physical exercise. "Yoga, to me, means a method to care about both your body and mind; a way to see and feel and better understand yourself," she explains. Her personal transformation through yoga is profound and deeply moving. "Yoga has impacted my life in a way I am forever grateful for. In a time when I was my physically and mentally weakest, I found that daily practice made me physically stronger and mentally more calm and stable. That experience made me fall in love with yoga."

Jennifer’s personal journey from vulnerability to strength embodies what Bad Girls Yoga is all about: creating a safe space where women can discover their inner power through movement and mindfulness.

What inspires you to continue teaching yoga to others?

"I often get feedback after class along the lines of, 'I feel so much better after this class!' It’s a great reminder of how the effects of yoga for the body and mind can be so immediately felt, and how much we need it in our life. I just love seeing the energy of students in class change to a lighter state."

This instant impact is something Bad Girls Yoga instructors see regularly, whether in our signature Namaste then Rosé classes or more personalized sessions. There's something magical about watching tension melt away and confidence bloom within a single class.

Signature Style and Sacred Sounds

What's your favorite yoga pose, and what do you love about it?

Jennifer's favorite pose reveals both her playful spirit and deep connection to the practice. "My favorite yoga pose is butterfly or bhada konasana. I love butterflies and the shape of making one with one's body feels wonderful for my hips and leg joints, and it also gives my spine a nice stretch." This pose perfectly captures the essence of transformation. Much like a butterfly emerging from its cocoon, yoga students often discover new versions of themselves on the mat.

Describe your class style.

What sets Jennifer apart is her incorporation of sound healing. "I always play my metal singing bowls at the end of class for brief relaxation. This completes the class with us allowing the mind and body to fully integrate the practice into oneself." Her students' responses speak volumes: "The comments after coming out of savasana with sound are often 'I needed that! I feel so much more relaxed and calm.'"

This attention to the complete yoga experience (not just the physical postures, but the mental and spiritual integration as well) is what makes Bad Girls Yoga classes so memorable and transformative.

Welcoming New Yogis

What would you say to someone feeling nervous about trying yoga for the first time?

"This is practice, not perfection. Let's just do our best and enjoy!" This philosophy aligns perfectly with Bad Girls Yoga's inclusive approach, where every body is welcome and every effort is celebrated.

Your top tip for someone preparing for their first class?

"Bring an open heart." While hydration and comfortable clothes matter, Jennifer understands that the most important thing a new student can bring is willingness to try something new.
