Moving Freely: Romina Carpio on Yoga and the Vinyasa Dance
In the sun-soaked city of Miami FL, Romina Carpio has found her calling on the yoga mat. As an instructor with Bad Girls Yoga, she's helping women across the country discover that yoga is so much more than just stretching: it's a transformative practice that brings freedom, strength, and community.
Romina’s path with BGY
How did you come across the opportunity to teach with Bad Girls Yoga?
Social media! Romina's journey with Bad Girls Yoga began in the most modern way possible. What started as a simple online discovery has blossomed into a passionate teaching career that allows her to share her love of yoga with students from coast to coast.
What does yoga mean to you? How has it impacted your life?
"Yoga allows me to move freely within my body," Romina explains. "This practice has allowed me to relieve aches and pain in my back, and to continue living a pain-free life."
Her experience speaks to one of yoga's most powerful benefits. Beyond the Instagram-worthy poses and flexibility gains, yoga serves as a therapeutic practice that addresses chronic pain, improves posture, and builds the kind of functional strength that supports everyday movement. For those suffering from back pain, an epidemic in our desk-bound culture, yoga offers a path to relief without medication or invasive procedures.
Finding purpose on the mat
What inspires you to continue teaching yoga to others?
Romina's answer is heartfelt and simple: "For everyone to experience the love I have for yoga for themselves." This genuine passion for sharing the practice is what makes her such an effective instructor. She teaches from a place of personal transformation and wants others to discover that same freedom.
What makes you proud to be a Bad Girls Yoga instructor?
"BGY allows me to bring yoga to a variety of different girls coming from all different states," she shares. This reach is what makes Bad Girls Yoga special: we’re creating connections and building community beyond geographic boundaries.
Just yoga things
What's your favorite yoga pose, and what do you love about it?
"Warrior 3," she says without hesitation. "Because it challenges my balance." This powerful balancing posture requires focus, core strength, and determination. It’s a great reminder that even experienced instructors continue to find growth and challenge in our practice.
Is there a common misconception about yoga you'd like to clear up?
"Yoga is not all about stretching," Romina emphasizes. While flexibility is certainly one benefit, yoga encompasses so much more: strength building, balance training, breath work, stress reduction, and mental clarity. It's a complete mind-body practice that meets you exactly where you are.
Preparing for the Bad Girls Yoga experience
Describe your class style. What vibe do you bring?
Romina specializes in vinyasa yoga, a dynamic style that links breath with movement. "I love teaching vinyasa, it allows me to mix different postures together and to transition from one pose to the next—I call it the vinyasa dance."
This flowing approach creates a moving meditation that builds heat in the body while keeping the mind engaged and present. It's accessible enough for beginners yet challenging enough to keep experienced practitioners coming back for more.
What would you say to someone feeling nervous about trying yoga for the first time?
"You never know till you try it!"
Your top tip for someone preparing for their first class?
"Practice your sequence before class and eat a snack. If you mess up, no one will know but you!" This practical advice helps take the pressure off newcomers and reminds them that yoga is a personal practice, not a performance.
